THE MOST INSTAGRAMMABLE PLACES IN NEW ZEALAND

If you didn’t take a ‘gram, did you even go there?

With such burning questions eating at our collective psyche, we have the interests of New Zealand travellers at heart. As such, this list of the most Instagrammable places in Aotearoa is sure to guide the most ‘gram-jamming of trips here.

MILFORD SOUND

Truly otherworldly, Milford Sound is the jewel in New Zealand’s social medial royalty crown. Sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, lounging seals and boat cruises to the edge of the endless ocean – have your camera at the ready.

LAKE PUKAKI

Located along one of the most ‘grammable stretches of road in the South Island, Pukaki is dreamy in pristine turquoise.

Whether the backdrop is snow capped mountains or the hot summer sun – this vista redefines beauty.

CAPE REINGA

Light house – check; novelty sign pointing to the world’s main cities – check; rugged coastline – check: Cape Reinga is a must-do on your Kiwi Insta tour.

As north as you can get, and as stunning as you can get, too.

LAKE TAUPO

The tourist mecca of the north, Lake Taupo is a scenic wonderland. Out on the lake or exploring the surrounding forests and rivers – try the view from above with a bucket list skydive.

AUCKLAND

The cityscape and landscape blend beautifully in the country’s biggest city. Looking at the harbour from the city you will see Rangitoto, the huge volcano. And looking back at the city from the sea you will see the quintessential Kiwi skyline snap.

HOBBITON

Our Pete really put us on the map when he turned our country into the Lord of the Rings set. Now immortalised as part of our nation, Hobbiton is the novelty adventure you’ve been waiting for.

The tiny town is so cute and quaint, you will find endless photo opportunities here.

ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK

A personal favourite of the Snapper, the Abel Tasman is an unbeatable destination. Hidden beaches, secret bays, clear water, warm climes and native bush – this is where the magic (grams) happen.

Explorable by foot, boat or air – you may need to make some space on your device to fit all the snaps the Abel Tasman will provide.

MOUNT MAUNGANUI

THE quintessential Kiwi snap has to be a trek up The Mount. Preferably in activewear and most definitely on a sunny day, this is a photographic must do.

Extra points for running, posing in a group or couple and getting up early for the sunrise journey.
